Async, a mobility startup, has been making waves in the e-bike industry with the visually striking and versatile Async A1 Pro. This electric moped is designed to be a Class-compliant urban ride, while also being equipped to traverse off-road terrain. The A1 Pro combines style and practicality, making it an attractive choice for both city-dwellers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The A1 Pro’s design is reminiscent of 2021’s Vinci model, with a streamlined look that catches the eye. The thick top tube houses integrated 300-lumen LED headlights and a rear LED braking tail-light, ensuring rider safety. The seating is 1.8-inches-thick and padded for comfort, accommodating riders between 5.4 and 6.4 ft in height. Supporting a maximum weight of 330 lb, it’s built to suit a wide range of riders.
What sets the A1 Pro apart is its impressive 1,200-W hub motor that delivers 70 lb.ft of torque and a top speed of 35 mph. This is complemented by a 1,920-Wh removable battery made of Samsung 21700 cells, providing a range between 80 and 150 miles per charge. An optional expansion kit can facilitate fast charging and convert the battery to a portable power source for devices at camp or home.
To navigate diverse terrains, the bike features an adjustable suspension fork with 120 mm of travel and monoshock suspension, along with 20-inch wheels with 4-inch fat tires. Quad-piston hydraulic brakes ensure stopping power, with a 203-mm rotor to the front and 180 mm to the rear.
The A1 Pro comes with a 5.5-inch full-color digital dash that displays speed and battery range, which can be paired with a companion mobile app for additional features. The app functions as a digital key and allows for GPS tracking, route planning, and detailed ride statistics.
The A1 Pro’s versatile design is comparable to that of the Minimalist Modular Ösa E-Bike, which has similarly been designed for both urban and off-road riding.
The A1 Pro is priced starting at $2,399 on Indiegogo, with a less powerful standard version available for slightly over $2,000. Optional accessories such as a rack set and extra batteries are also on offer. Shipping is estimated to start in July, subject to the successful completion of their crowdfunding campaign. With its blend of style, power, and adaptability, the Async A1 Pro is poised to redefine the e-bike experience. Also be sure to check our article about 10 Smallest Folding Electric Mini Bikes.
