The result of the collaboration between independent watchmaker MB&F and the Italian luxury brand Bulgari is the Legacy Machine FlyingT Allegra, a reinterpretation of MB&F’s three-dimensional horological art piece dedicated to women. Radical in its architecture, the movement is vertically built along a central axis whose upper end carries the diamond-set flying tourbillon and the balance. At 7 o’clock, the hours and minutes subdial with serpentine hands is set at a 50-degree angle so that only its owner can read the time.
Between the regulating organ and the rotor, the barrel ensures an extremely generous 100-hour power reserve made possible by the reduction in the number of gears. A sapphire crystal dome tops this three-dimensional assembly, beneath which one can admire the movement, beating at the slow (and mesmerising) frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz).
Measuring 39 mm in diameter with a thickness of 20 mm, the case is available in 18k white or red gold and set with diamonds with green or red alligator strap, respectively. The two crowns can be used to wind the watch (left) or to set the time (right). The watch is water resistant up to a pressure of 3 ATM (approximately 30 metres / 90 feet).
The lines of the case have been significantly redesigned by Bulgari and, in line with the exuberant style of the Roman jeweller, precious gems counterbalance the cold precision and micromechanical complexity of the model.
For each of the 20 timepieces composing the two pink or white limited editions, jewellers have selected tourmaline, tsavorite, diamonds, rubellite, amethyst, tanzanite and topaz, in an exceptional composition forming a full circle around the movement. The dial entirely paved with snow-set diamonds provides a dazzling backdrop.
The case-back reveals the sun-shaped oscillating weight: its gold sandblasted rays rotate on the ruthenium disc positioned above a platinum counterweight.
