Raw Edges stages its ideal home environment for a busy young family with its new installation at the VitraHaus Loft. Located in Weil am Rhein, Germany, and designed by Herzog & de Meuron, Vitra‘s flagship-store-meets-showroom opened its doors almost a decade ago.
Vitra chose Raw Edges design couple to revamp the VitraHaus Loft interior, an inspirational place for whoever wants to admire the company’s classics and latest contemporary pieces in a dedicated showroom, explore his taste in design, order and purchase furniture, or just take a break at the café on the ground floor.
With the aim of revealing how spaces could be functional both for parents and kids at the same time, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay created a cozy and colorful installation on the 4th floor, mixing living areas and workspaces with a creative juxtaposition between materials and a careful selection of Vitra and Artek products. The two Mutina collections Tex and Tape gave a finishing touch by harmonizing the setting, that the visitors are encouraged to explore freely, always discovering something new.
Other key factors of their VitraHaus Loft installation are movement, improvisation, and surprise, evident in various elements of the space. For instance, the bathroom is expanded to accommodate a studio for experimentation with color while some Vitra cork stools serve as the base for a bed. For Raw Edges, it was vital to achieve a spontaneous, realistic and above all, happy environment where visitors are encouraged to explore the setting and discover something new every time.
