Spectacular kitchen design, with suspended Kitchen Island and trendy decor elements. A creation of Diego Revollo Arquitetura, this modern kitchen’s design, a part of fabulous Sao Paulo penthouse, carries the catchy and suiting name Dijon Kitchen – one that reflects the mustard color base of the bespoke cabinetry.

The modern project presents us with dynamic configuration, clever space ideas, and very characteristic features. The first focal point of the composition, of course, is the unique suspended kitchen island structure. Long four and a half meters, and hanging on black metal braces – a trendy insertion if there is one – the bespoke detail gives a dynamic and dramatic identity to the decor composition.

Its free-standing configuration allows the flooring to stay completely visible and remain part of the open floor flow of the social areas. Extensive wooden cladding – so typical for traditional Brazilian design- surrounds the modernistic elements of the design configuration, giving it a warm and rich base. On that backdrop, the ultra-modern stainless steel refrigerator sparks with its industrial, sleek presence.

Although the primary color palette of the kitchen area is dominated by the warm shades of the mustard cabinetry ( arranged in flexible and dynamic configuration, we may add) and the wooden cladding, accents in white, black, and bold purple define and punctuate the composition. The playful and artistic shapes of the bar stools are another focal accent of this modern kitchen design example.

Minimalist decorations, trendy design lighting installations, shining metal insertions, and the cylindrical absorbers suspended from the ceiling add a touch of urban industrial inspiration into the design. Although our feel (evoked by the organic base of the wood, the purity of shapes, and their bold combination with shining metal) is that there are some Asian stylistic hints here as well.  Photos: Alain Brugier;
