Originally born in Georgia before emigrating to Israel at the age of eight, Michael Wolfensohn is a software designer, amateur engineer, and fashion and custom motorcycle enthusiast . After serving in the IDF, Wolfensohn fell in love with the G-SHOCK watches worn by him and the majority of those he served with. And it was this passion for the rugged Japanese watch – coupled with his robust technical and engineering abilities and acute eye for design – that lead to the creation of the entirely hand-made Wolfensohn “Swiss Shock” Custom G-SHOCK Watches.
Starting with the classic DW5600E-1V model, the prodigious amateur Israeli horologist 3D-scanned the G-SHOCK’s case and has reproduced a new case and bezel from precision-machined 316 stainless steel. The original movement’s also been replaced with a top-shelf Swiss-made automatic ETA 2824-2 movement while the dials – which sit under an AR-coated sapphire lens -now sport 18k brushed gold or sterling silver laser-cut faces decorated with 316 stainless steel hands that have been milled and finished by hand, and hand-engraved Wolfensohn branding and serial numbers. Water-resistant to 98.4′ (or 30m), these beautifully-crafted cases are paired with handmade calfskin straps, too. The Wolfensohn “Swiss Shock” Custom G-SHOCK Watches are available now in limited numbers with pricing set at $4,995.
