The E1 World Electric Powerboat Series is slated to start in 2023, and the Racebird electric powerboat will the exclusive boat running in the championship. Currently undergoing testing, the Racebird features a single-seat conckpit inspired by open-wheel race cars and a hydrofoil hull design that takes inspiration from seabirds skimming the surface of the ocean. The Racebird is capable of up to 50 knots (58 MPH), powered by a 200 horsepower electric drivetrain with a battery capacity of 35kWh. Former powerboat champion Luca Ferrari wasw behind the wheel for a series of tests to measure performance, reliability, and handling characteristics on the River Po in Nothern Italy.
