The brief for this project called for modern, functional, well-ventilated house that will suit the hot and humid climate of Thailand. The architects from Ayutt and Associates design faced few challenges regarding the small site and the owner desire for large green area, the conjunction of contemporary and traditional architectural language and the creation of strong memorable character for a functional house. But in the end the result is modern, luxury home with an architectural reference to traditional Thai minimalism and clear lined structures.
The material palate used in the construction corresponds to the light, contemporary approach of the architects towards the project – silver aluminum floating on a black granite sheet below, off-form concrete, glass and wood as a reference to the traditional Thai style. The simple rectangular shapes of the interior and the white color base of the serene ambiance, bring modern tropical lightness in this luxury home. With its almost minimalistic approach towards furnishing and decoration the design of the house allows the inner courtyard and the introduction of plants midst spaces to dominate the spatial arrangement. Vast openings, double – height volumes and glass partitions complete the elegant design and the lightness of the interior. Photographs: Piyawut Srisakul
