Liverpool’s new all-day dining and drinking destination Castle St Townhouse has unveiled its original overhaul courtesy of DV8 Designs. The Warrington-based interior design and architecture firm, headed by Lee Birchall, was responsible for transforming the Grade II listed building into a venue that combines the ‘Three B’s’ (breakfast, brunch, and bar).
In a bid to shape a ‘gloriously relaxed atmosphere with effortless elegance,’ Lee and the team incorporated an earthy color palette, accompanied by vintage typographic styling, a bowler hat lighting wall, and signature green furnishings. In line with the brand’s mirror concept, whereby the venue transforms throughout the day to ‘reflect different people at various times of the day,’ a grand multi-mirrored bar also acts as a focal point.
Lee said: “to preserve the rich heritage and history of the Castle Street building, it was important that the venue remained true to its roots. With that in mind, we kept many of the building’s original columns, while rearranging the entrance area to create a central focal point that showcases the full length of the space. “By combining a series of modern decors and a playful design throughout the venue, the overall object was to carry out a restoration that suits the originality of the building and its setting, in addition to incorporating a grandeur feel.”
Located in Liverpool’s commercial district, Castle St Townhouse blurs the lines between social meetings and cocktail nights. As part of its splendid image, the go-to city establishment offers a subtle nod to Liverpool flair to complement its historic surroundings. Owner and director of Castle St Townhouse Jason McNeill added: “To ensure that Castle St Townhouse compliments its cosmopolitan postcode, we have created a venue that feels very much already established and part of Liverpool tradition. Based on the concept of mirrors and the changing faces and personalities throughout the day, the venue allows people to show their three sides as they wake, work and play.
“By day we provide a unique meeting point for businesses to connect while grabbing a light bite to eat and drink, in addition to offering a relaxing space for tourists wanting to explore the depths of Liverpool’s rich history and culture. Whereas at night, the venue is transformed into a chic bar that mirrors the socialite culture, synonymous with New York City.”
